St. Thomas School

2008 - Medina, Washington
Sustainable building features include passive ventilation in the classroom areas, low VOC, recycled content materials, radiant heating, and high-efficiency equipment and lighting. Plug loads are reduced by using laptop computers in the classrooms. On the site, new paving is porous asphalt and porous concrete, plants are drought tolerant, and water is carefully treated and released into the nearby stream at a highly controlled rate. St. Thomas School is Washington State's first LEED® Gold certified project under the LEED for Schools Rating System.
