Green buildings are the foundation of healthy, thriving communities.
Bassetti commits to improving the impact of our building design on climate, community, and occupant health. Buildings measurably affect human life at scales large and small. Globally, building construction and operations contribute 40 percent of human impacts to our planet’s climate and ecology. Locally, buildings create and shape our communities and social interactions in quantifiable ways. Individually, the buildings we design directly affect occupant health and performance. Through our firm’s operations, Bassetti strives to reduce our climate impact, have a positive impact on our community, and improve the well-being of our employees by promoting equity and social justice.
Bassetti has signed onto the
AIA 2030 Commitment to meet the targets of carbon-
free design by 2030.
We strive to leverage our partnerships with academic and professional organizations such as Carbon Leadership Forum to develop and improve our life cycle assessment capabilities. We also make every effort to reduce the climate impact of the firm’s operations, have a positive impact on our community, and improve the well-being of our employees by promoting equity and social justice.
DAYLIGHTING
Daylighting performance in all regularly occupied spaces including major circulation. Of highest priority are classroom and office spaces. Initial project layouts and designs are generated with optimal daylighting in mind.
RESTORATIVE
LANDSCAPE
We emphasize low-impact stormwater strategies in our projects and seek to improve the performance of our building sites beyond Federal, State, and local regulations. In our school projects, we use stormwater strategies to provide educational opportunities for students that integrate with science curricula, improve water quality, and provide enhanced ecosystems in support of biodiversity. Telling the story of stormwater on our sites is a fundamental part of our design approach.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Bassetti signed the AIA 2030 Commitment and commits to the energy use targets therein. Teams set energy performance targets at the start of design and budget projects to include the renewable energy production (e.g. PV panels) necessary to hit those targets.
